I am delighted, and very proud, to be the Headteacher at the City of Derby Academy. Students are at the heart of everything we do and we aim to provide all students with an engaging and enjoyable learning experience which will develop both academic and personal success.
Mr P Smith
The Council have received a number of reports of young people swimming and climbing on the weir in an area known as Pebble Beach on the River Derwent, just below Alvaston Park. Although a lovely spot to enjoy the river, there are hidden dangers to those entering the river water including cold water shock, injury from unseen objects and slippery surfaces.
We would be grateful if you could spread the message to all your pupils just before the summer holidays, about the importance of water safety. Please can you remind all children, and parents/guardians/carers, of the dangers of entering the river and climbing on weirs. For further information on water safety please visit – https://www.rospa.com/leisure-safe…/…/children-young-people/
Hope everyone has a lovely and safe summer holidays.
