For admission to year 7, in the year preceding admissions, parents should apply using Derby City Council’s Admission process.

Appeals timetable for year 6 students starting secondary school in September 2024.
General Appeals
There is a right to appeal to an independent Appeals Panel for unsuccessful applicants relating to admissions at the age of 11 and above. Appeals should be made within 20 school days of the date of refusal and should be addressed to the City of Derby Academy, clearly marking the envelope ‘Admissions Appeals’. At present we have a designated catchment area. We would consult with the Local Authority, other schools and the local community before taking a decision on an appeal.
