We are excited to be hosting two Parent Information Evenings this half term.

Year 11 Parent Information Evening – Wednesday 16th September, 4pm

Years 7–10 Parent Information Evening – Tuesday 22nd September, 4pm

We would like to invite parents and carers of students across all years to our Parent Information Evenings.

These evenings are designed to give you a clear understanding of the systems, expectations and policies we use at City of Derby Academy, as well as the support available to students and families.

For Y11s, there will be a GCSE focus. Year 11 is a crucial year for our students, and we know that parents and carers have an important role to play in helping them achieve the best possible GCSE results. The purpose of the evening is to make sure you understand what the year ahead will look like and, most importantly, how you can support your child effectively throughout it.

 

We know that understanding how school systems work makes it much easier for parents and carers to support their child. During the evening, we will share information about key areas of school life, including:

• our expectations around attendance, punctuality, behaviour and uniform;
• how we recognise and reward positive behaviour and achievement;
• how we assess students and report progress to parents;
• homework and expectations for learning outside the classroom;
• the pastoral and academic support available to students;
• how we communicate with parents and the systems you can use to access information about your child; and
• key school policies and procedures that are useful for parents to understand.

There will also be an opportunity to ask questions and make sure you know where to go if you need information or support during the school year.

Whether your child has just joined us in Year 7 or is moving towards their GCSEs in Year 11, we hope the evening will help you feel well informed about school life and how we can work together to support your child.
