Welcome Back!

After a lovely break, we are very excited for a new school year at CoDA. We can’t wait to welcome our Y7s and Y11s on Monday 7th September, and our Y8s, Y9s, and Y10s on Tuesday 8th September!

Our Headteacher’s Newsletter went out on the last day of term, but please see a reminder below.

Behaviour

To provide greater consistency and clarity, all behaviour sanctions will now result in a 60-minute same-day detention. This will apply to:

  • Late arrival to school
  • Late arrival to lessons
  • Lesson removals
  • Inappropriate behaviour outside of lessons

Our aim is to ensure that pupils, parents and staff have a clear understanding of the consequences when our expectations are not met, while continuing to support every pupil in making positive choices.

Rewards

We are also delighted to be launching an exciting new rewards system to celebrate the positive contributions our pupils make every day. Pupil voice has captured a strong desire to have more recognition for hard work, resiliency and achievement and we have responded:

Students will be awarded:

  • 20 points for fully meeting lesson expectations.
  • 10 points for mostly meeting lesson expectations.
  • 30 points when a member of staff is so impressed by a pupil’s work ethic, attitude or contribution that they request a Positive On Call

During the first half term, pupils will be consulted on the rewards they would like to see available in our new CODA Rewards Shop, which will open later in the term. We are excited to give students a genuine voice in shaping the rewards available to them.

Uniform

A reminder that, following some hot weather, we expect the students to be back in full school uniform in September.

Equipment

From September, all pupils are expected to bring their own bag and equipment. This should be a school bag that is big enough to fit an A4 book inside it.

If your child does not arrive to school with a suitable bag, we will provide them with one.

Your child will also need to bring the following equipment: black pen, green pen, ruler, rubber, pencil in a pencil case and it will be your child’s responsibility to replenish for free from the uniform shop, before crossing the red line, to line up at the start of each day.

Any pupil arriving after 8.40am will be late for school and the new school day begins with a line up, where we can welcome the children, celebrate their successes and give them reminders for the day.

Free Breakfast for All!

I am also excited to share with you that we are offering free breakfast for all, from 8.15am – 8.40am every morning.

ARBOR Parent and Student Portal

From September, ARBOR will become the central platform for school information. Parents and pupils will be able to access:

  • Behaviour and achievement records
  • Timetables
  • Parents’ evening bookings
  • School reports
  • School communications and announcements

We encourage all parents and carers to ensure they are able to access their ARBOR account so they can stay fully informed throughout the year.
