Uniform

Uniform

The Academy has strict guidelines on dress and all pupils are expected to wear the full Academy uniform. The wearing of our distinctive uniform gives pupils a sense of 'belonging', helps foster a pride in the Academy and stops pupils coming to the Academy in unsuitable clothes.

We want all our pupils to present themselves smartly and to take pride in wearing our uniform properly. We believe this helps to create the climate for learning which helps our pupils to be successful. We also believe that the self-discipline this requires is important.

Pupils are expected to wear the full Academy uniform when travelling to and from the Academy, at all Academy functions and on visits and at sports events.

Jewellery is not allowed, except for one pair of small plain ear studs and a watch.

Ear-rings, large or multiple rings, nose studs or other facial jewellery, nail varnish and make up are not allowed. One small, plain ring is allowed.

Electrical items including mobile phones and music devices are also not allowed in the Academy.

The Academy takes no responsibility for lost or stolen jewellery or electrical items as they are not allowed on the Academy site.

Shoes must be black, sensible ones for Academy use, flat soled or with very low heels no more than two centimetres high. They should have no logos or embellishments and should be able to take shoe polish. No boots or trainers are allowed.

Hats and scarves must not be worn inside the buildings - they should be in a bag.

School trousers and skirts must be modest enough to be worn on the Academy site and have a high enough waistband to ensure shirts can be properly tucked in. Wide belts are not allowed. Skirts are to be no shorter than knee length.

Excessive hair styles are strongly discouraged and all pupils with long hair must have it tied back whilst on the Academy site. ‘Cuts' of any shape or design are not allowed, nor are multiple hair colours.

The Principal's decision about uniform issues is final and binding.
